We are humbled to share the listing of names below and to carry their stories forward…….
This past academic year, Gonzaga received estate gifts from the following alumni and friends who were inspired to leave a legacy which will now forever be part of the great GU tradition of helping others. Each of these individuals’ stories have been captured so that we can share them with our students. Additionally, each person is being remembered in the prayers offered by the University and our Jesuit partners. Please remember these individuals in your prayers, as well.
- Unrestricted gifts were madeby Ernest J. Becker (’57) and Richard J. Murphy (’60) by listing Gonzaga as beneficiary of their retirement assets.
- An unrestricted gift from the Robert A. and Beryl M. Coomes Trust (’57, ’57) went to work immediately in support of students.
- Trudy Patton-Bigham Lieb made her ultimate gift to the Fund for Gonzaga with a gift from her will.
- A gift from David Hamer’s (’55) estate established the Don Herak School of Engineering Scholarship for students with financial need in honor of his dear friend.
- David J. Ross (’62)provided a gift from his trust for the Zag Scholarship Fund
- A gift from Henry Gilmore (’52) provided support for the Lyle Moore Endowed Scholarshipin honor of his cherished Gonzaga Glee Club experience.
- The remainder of a charitable gift annuity established by John and Elizabeth Leonard was added to the School of Engineering Excellence Fund.
- Edwin T. MacCamy (‘36) made a gift from his estate to the Edwin T. MacCamy, M.D. and Elinor McAuley MacCamy Endowment for students in need.
- The Estate of Myrtle E. Woldson provided gifts for much needed scholarships through the Myrtle E. Woldson Endowed Scholarship.
In addition, from our most recent Heritage Society Newsletter, please take a moment to read two brief stories, one about an extended alumni family (Bob ’67, Stevie ’66 and Brendan ’00 Burke) and another about a beloved faculty member (psychology professor Nancy Worsham). Each story demonstrates why Zags choose to partner with Gonzaga to ensure its viability for generations to come. These wonderful people, listed above and whose stories we share in Heritage, show us that philanthropy is an investment in the future – through our students – and the sharing of social capital is how this tradition will live on today, tomorrow and in perpetuity.
