It is just after 3:20 pm in Spokane…..
- Over 1,500 Zags have given (so far) for Zags Give Day (many of you have given this year and today - thank you!)
- We have seen hundreds of stories posted across social media platforms of Zags sharing how Zags have shown up in their lives and how they plan to be there for today’s and future Zags….
- We have a pretty exciting game, during a historic season, that is just about to start AND…….we have the reflections below…..your voices of why you believe in and support Gonzaga. Thank you for sharing these thoughts with us previously and for communicating these out to those within your Gonzaga network. As always, Go All Zags!
#We are Blessed!
“My beginning started with St. Al's and Gonzaga. My grandfather helped Fr. Cataldo with cement work on the Admin Bldg. and my mother was married in GU's Italian Chapel in 1914. My parents had seven children, all baptized at St. Al’s. I started at GU the first year they had co-ed classes and graduated in 1954 (I took a short break from school to work before graduating). Several of my cousins also graduated from GU. My final legacy is to give back to Gonzaga, my original home.”
“Gonzaga gave me so much; Gonzaga gave me my people.”
“Life really is about relationships and our giving was inspired by the professors and Jesuits who became our friends. Their friendships were a gift to us, and our giving to Gonzaga they passionately believed in, became our gift in honor of them. We hope that others will have the same gift of inspiration.”
“No place or organization has had a greater impact and influence on my life than Gonzaga University. I hope current students will feel the same when they reflect back on their lives.”
“Over the years we have supported Gonzaga University because we are convinced of its importance in graduating students who will be a contribution to society. As the products of Gonzaga Law School we wanted to acknowledge the benefits we received from our education and training at Gonzaga.”
“These 3 individuals; Father Spitzer, President McCulloh and Katie Herzog are the individuals that have motivated my giving. But what inspires me further is the overall atmosphere of the Gonzaga University Campus, the quality and cleanliness of it; the cheerfulness, friendliness and attitude of the students. It is where I would be proud and happy to enroll as a student and I intend to support and give to Gonzaga University in the future.”
“Regarding the reason for giving is very personal. My life long vocational goals were to practice medicine. This is not a solitary pursuit but one that requires guidance and preparation for many years of training. The professors and mentors at Gonzaga University allowed me the opportunity to achieve those goals. The icing on the cake was a Gonzaga-in-Florence experience. My wife and I have been very fortunate with our success. It is time to repay those who guided us through the process.”
“We give back to Gonzaga University because the quality education I received has meant so much to me in my life. I continue to give back to St. Aloysius, Gonzaga Prep, and Gonzaga University because I have a fundamental belief that the institutions should be constantly improved upon and evolving in order to provide a healthy education for those that follow and generations to come.”
“We believe deeply that every student should have the same opportunity we had to live the Jesuit/Gonzaga learning experience…We sincerely believe Gonzaga students are the future of our communities, and the foundation of that all important future generation of ZAGS. Having been significantly influenced by our family’s many years of involvement with Gonzaga (son, sisters, nephews, all graduates, 30 years on the Board of Regents), and the Jesuit community, we felt it was important to contribute annually and plan our estate to fund a scholarship for future generations of ZAGS. Receiving personal notes and in-person comments from our many scholarship recipients over the past two decades has been very rewarding for us.”
