This past weekend Gonzaga University’s graduating classes of 1964 and 1965 came home to campus for a special joint-class reunion. The energy was phenomenal, right from the start. When a current undergraduate student who’d volunteered to give campus tours revealed her Zag Alumni grandparents were among the attendees—imagine the whole group’s surprise (and her grandparents’ pride)! You can see her leading the group through the new John and Joan Bollier Family Center for Integrated Science and Engineering in the photo below. It’s a fantastic reminder of one of my favorite things about the Zag family: its generational impact! Just over 60 years after her grandparents began their Gonzaga journey, she launched her own, and now had the opportunity to share it with them.
Also heartwarming (and remarkable) is the fact that this weekend was one of four reunions in four months put on by the team in Advancement. From lighting candles in the grotto for our friends and loved ones in Heaven to 18 holes of Zag-inspired fun in Portland and every on-campus event in between, the hardworking people behind the reunions, events, and outreach happening all year long put their whole hearts into creating (and re-creating) meaningful experiences to keep us all connected.
Needless to say, I am kicking off this week FULL of ZaGratitude, and I hope that feeling finds its way to you, too!
