Couldn’t let this day pass without a brief reminder: Sept. 17, 1887: “Gonzaga College, later to become Gonzaga University, opened on a muddy campus just east of downtown Spokane after seven years of planning, fundraising, and construction. On that first day, only seven students were enrolled. Enrollment grew to 18 students as the school year progressed.”
On this Historic First Day, we thought you might enjoy a Whirlwind Tour of Gonzaga’s past that we created on the occasion of GU’s 125th Anniversary (2012). The first 125 were pretty impressive, the last seven have been transformative = proud of what our creative and dedicated colleagues have achieved and work toward each day. Pretty phenomenal story to be part of and blessed to help write… here’s to many more historic first days!
