Freeze! On what kind of device did you just open this message? A desktop or laptop computer? Perhaps a tablet or phone? These technologies and all behind them (even just the concept of “email”) that are such common elements of our lives now are the result of centuries of applied science. Now I want you to think about what the next level is after applied science… it’s applied technology. Taking all the knowledge, skills, things, ideas, bits and bytes that so many take for granted and purposefully applying and improving them to solve important problems—that’s where Gonzaga is going with its announcement this week of the Institute for Informatics and Applied Technology.  A pair of Zag alumni who’ve already had an indelible impact on students with their support for student athlete health and wellness have once again made Gonzaga’s future their priority—and they’re a really cool family, to boot. Meet Dave and Cathleen Reisenauer and join me in gratitude for what they’re helping bring to the horizon for Gonzaga University.

And if you are in Spokane, be sure to turn up that AC – SUMMER HAS ARRIVED... wishing a peaceful (and well hydrated) weekend to all.
