From many grains, a heap.

There are moments that stay with you—words spoken that settle deep in your heart, reminding you why this work matters. One such moment happened in Florence last May, when Gonzaga’s immediate past Board Chair, Christy Larsen, delivered a powerful reflection at the dedication of a beautiful new space at the Mozilo Center.

She framed her words around an idea that has shaped her family’s philanthropy for generations: Ex Granis Fit Acervus—From many grains, a heap.

With grace and warmth, Christy spoke of her parents’ legacy, their deep love for Gonzaga, and their unwavering belief that small, intentional acts of generosity accumulate into something extraordinary. A scholarship making Florence accessible for students who never thought they’d see Italy. A vision to transform an overlooked space into a place of beauty and reflection. A series of gifts, each inspired by a need, coming together to shape a future none of us could have imagined.

That same spirit is alive at Gonzaga today. Every day, donors like you step forward—not always with grand gestures, but with steady, meaningful contributions that, together, become something incredible. From many grains, a heap.

This is the power of collective generosity. It is the heart of the Gonzaga experience. And it is why I remain so grateful for this community—one that believes in possibility and builds a better future, one gift, one opportunity, one student at a time.

Today, as donations poured in for Zags Give Day, so did notes of gratitude for Gonzaga’s 26th President, Thayne McCulloh. You’ve created an energy today that is truly remarkable and exemplifies what Gonzaga is all about—community.

Thank you for being part of this extraordinary heap of goodness.
