Last night in Honolulu over 200 alumni, parents and friends gathered to “Unite in Hawaii” – among the many moments of community that were shared was an update from Dr. McCulloh (more to come on that in a future email) and a new tradition we have undertaken – honoring an alumnus, parent or friend who is a standout example of stewarding (Uniting) the Zag network.
I am proud to share with you that last night’s honoree was Ray Suganuma ’88. Ray is a former Hawaii Chapter President, mentor to fellow Zags, donor, advocate for current and prospective students and a constant source of connection for Zags in Hawaii. Along with Ray, over the last few weeks we have been able to bestow the Unite Award to Brooke ’03 and Matt Sullivan ’03 in Seattle, Kyle Teater ’04 in Bellevue, Meghan Levin ’96 and Jeff ’75 and Margaret Reed in San Jose/San Francisco.
These individuals embody the mission of Gonzaga University and are helping to keep the flames of inspiration alight for our current and future generations of students and alumni. How do they do this…..well, just like so many of you they:
- Advocate to prospective students to apply to GU
- Provide counsel and mentorship to students and alumni
- Provide financial support to keep our unique Mission fueled and accessible to those who follow
Inspired by all of you and the above honorees, we are making the resources needed to fuel this network available broadly at this site: www.gonzaga.edu/unite
I want to make sure you have this link at your fingertips, as well. As you come across fellow Zags who are seeking to pay forward this incredible gift of which we are all part of at GU, please feel free to share this link with them (via email, text, social and temporary tattoos (soon to be available) 😊.
Wishing each of you a peaceful start to your Thanksgiving week……hoping you and yours are able to gather soon. GO ALL ZAGS!
