Gonzaga’s "Coffee to Careers" program will celebrate its official kick-off today from 5-7 p.m. at the Northeast Community Center.
This initiative will launch a small business venture with residents of the northeast neighborhood. The program is designed to support workforce development of youth in the neighborhood aged 16-24. It has been a true testament to the power of partnership across the Gonzaga University community. Since its inception in 2019, "Coffee to Careers" has engaged students, faculty, and the broader community to bring this innovative project to life. The Wolff Fellows in the Center for Community Engagement (CCE), New Venture Lab Students and School of Business Mozilo Interns under the guidance Dr. Daniell Xu, professor and Mozilo Chair of Business Administration, have played pivotal roles in researching, building business plans and developing the curriculum for this program. Their hard work, combined with the seed money provided through Opportunity Northeast, has laid a solid foundation for this impactful endeavor, which provides career development and support for local residents while creating opportunities for Gonzaga students to apply their skills in real-world settings.
The "Coffee to Careers" program is an embodiment of Gonzaga’s mission to foster meaningful connections between education and community. The University is honored to have the KXLY-4 Extreme Team film the final touches of the project for the grand reveal and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
A special shout-out to our incredible student leaders—Cole, Aminat, Avery, Matthew, and Emma—whose dedication and passion have been instrumental in bringing "Coffee to Careers" to fruition. They are some serious rockstars! Be on the lookout for more on this story in the weeks ahead……
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to making a difference at and through GU. Together, we continue to create pathways to success and enrich the lives of those we serve.
