For the ALERT we saw (and heard) last night

Apple watch noise warning at a Gonzaga gameWOW! This post from Facebook sums it up.  Special thanks to alumnus Danny Jones for his quick action Public Service Announcement last night. Luckily, no one took it to heart and kept up the volume/support of our student-athletes.

Here's a brief reflection that will hopefully keep you cheering this morning

At our core, we strive to experientially develop individuals' capabilities as scholars, performers, members of an organization, and empathetic contributors to collective and ongoing improvement. Principles of humility, equity, belonging, integrity, and innovation drive this vision, which encourages holistic approaches to help our students become inspired toward modeling their values in all areas of life, thus making them catalysts for positive social change.

This work we do – embodied by our student-athletes & students all across campus – is important because it extends and amplifies the power of our shared mission to audiences around the world. Additionally, the impact of the distinctively Gonzaga, Jesuit experience of our student-athletes, coaches and staff results in people with transferrable values and skills ready to enact positive change in communities, industries, and the lives of others.

With the support of all of you, we will continue to lead with our mission-based, people-first practices. In this Thanksgiving week we are incredibly mindful that with our students, staff, coaches, benefactors, faculty, fans, and community members, you are people who matter to this community and the world.  Thank you for being with GU here today, cheering last night (wherever you may have been cheering from), for being members of our community, and most importantly for believing in the potential of our students.
