A (juice box) toast to the tiny...

Today I’m thinking of the littlest people in the Zag community who are in the earliest stages of learning about the FUN of the Gonzaga family.  They’re watching games alongside us—in living rooms and arenas, sitting on shoulders and laps. They’re dressing up in GU gear for spirit days in elementary schools across the country, and they’re listening as family, friends, teachers, neighbors, and people on TV holler, “GO ZAGS!” These little Zags are the reason we do what we do—your generosity and our work make it possible for children to become applicants, then students, and then the Jesuit-educated service-minded alumni for others ready to inspire the next generation of tiny Zags.

The examples that the tiny Zags see today help ignite the spark that can grow into flames of inspiration.  They have so much potential—our heroes on the court, in the community and the classrooms we cheer for now were at one time in diapers, perhaps hearing “Go Zags!” from the “Zags Got Dads” crew and moms who are losing their voices cheering on sons and daughters along the way. Because people give, cheer, come together, and show up for what’s important, there will always be Zags.

So, today I raise a juice box to the generations of tiny Zags and to every member of the Gonzaga family who is making it possible for them to realize their potential, find their passion, grow their faith, and become Zags. Remember, Saint Aloysius Gonzaga was the patron saint of young students—they are watching and listening now as you carry forward his legacy.

Allow me forgiveness for including pics of Megan and my “little ones” below... we had them working hard last weekend in Portland and they loved every minute of it!  Go ALL ZAGS!!
