This reflection comes to GU from the Father General of the Society of Jesus (the leader of the Jesuits – worldwide), Father Arturo Sosa Abascal, SJ. He prepared this message to commemorate the launch of our Center for Climate, Society and the Environment, providing great context as to why such a center and its work is at the heart of the Jesuit Mission.
His brief message goes beyond this helpful frame, which is why I draw your attention, specifically, to the 1:52 mark as he reflects on our namesake (St. Aloysius Gonzaga), what we represent and what we are called to do as the ‘Gonzaga University.’
A special message from Fr. Arturo Sosa, General Superior, Society of Jesus
As thousands of our students wrap up their studies (in a truly unprecedented year) and hundreds more are making “the decision” to become a Zag….a decision that will form the rest of their lives….please take to heart the role each of you play in this work….Father Sosa’s closing reflections say it all…
- “young people today hear the same call”
- “we prepare people to engage the complex challenges of our times”
- “the Society of Jesus thanks Gonzaga University for developing the capacity to provide…….”
