A Zag graduate alum shared with me recently one of the things that made all the difference to her with respect to her GU experience:
“I had a name,” she said. “I wasn’t just a number.”
She then rattled off the handful digits making up numbers identifying her at previous educational institutions—the only way she’d been recognized as part of their community. It’s something I hope we never take for granted about this university—whether on-campus, online, abroad or at home, everyone in the Gonzaga community has a name, a soul, and is a whole person worth supporting on their Jesuit educational journey. We don’t let numbers define us; however, some numbers are worth celebrating:
Gonzaga University is ranked by U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 annual rankings in the top 100 National Universities for the fourth consecutive year, this year moving up and into the top 19% of schools in this category.
Let that marinate for a second: Four years in the top 100 among National Universities, and now in the top 19%. Gonzaga’s most recently released rankings show a school on the rise, largely thanks to you, the hard work of our faculty and staff and remarkably dedicated and disciplined students. Zags like you who care about the University, its students, and the impact we can all have on the world make these numbers possible.
And the next time you’re on campus (hopefully for Zagapalooza next month!), be sure to stop and smell the roses—literally—as Gonzaga has been named among the 56 prettiest college campuses. So join me in raising a glass to the University’s Plant Services colleagues who keep Gonzaga’s grounds, facilities, and foliage at the top of the rankings in our book (and nationally)!
