Internship & Student Employment

While working toward their mathematics degree, our students can find employment at Spokane, national, and international companies. We also employ students in the math department.

Internship Opportunities:

During the summer, students can find the opportunity to apply mathematical knowledge they learn in the classroom by taking part in an internship. The university holds an internship fair at the beginning of each school year. Our math students have found internships at companies all over the United States. Some companies where students have had internships:

What can I do with a math degree? 

Student Employment:

The Math Department is looking for students who are excited about math to work in the Math Learning Center. There are many opportunities to support students and faculty as a member of the Math Learning Center Team.

 

Positions:
-Mathematics Learning Center peer tutors
-graders
-research assistants
-teaching assistants
-program/office assistants
-website/communication assistants

Hours:
The hours for these positions can typically be very flexible with some students working just a couple hours per week, while some work 10 or more hours per week.

Pay Rate:
The Math department follows University guidance for wages. Current wages are set at the Washington state minimum wage.

Benefits of student employment:
By working as a tutor or a grader, students can hone their ability to communicate mathematics. Students employed as research assistants can explore the cutting edge of mathematical research and explore the mathematics behind concepts they learned in other subjects.
