Program Overview
Sparks is a team mentoring program that meets at J.R. Rogers High School once per week. Sparks fosters a safe and supportive environment for youth through positive relationships where strengths are explored. Youth build social, emotional, and academic skills through inclusive and intentional programming which emphasizes college and career exploration, and leadership development. Sparks mentors attend programming on Wednesdays from 2:00-4:30 pm, attend one lunch visit on site per month, and will participate in activities on campus once per semester.
Sparks is a year-long commitment for GU students. We strongly encourage mentors to consider committing to the program for longer than one year, but this is not a requirement.
