Alsaker Medical Imaging

Dr. Melody Alsaker's ongoing research in computational medical imaging involves a diverse and interdisciplinary network of collaborators across four continents. Together, they develop mathematics and computer code to create advanced medical images using innovative techniques.

The team is currently working on a new imaging technique to produce CT scans without X-rays. A publication on this work is forthcoming, and Dr. Alsaker will present their findings at an upcoming international conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Since 2018, Dr. Alsaker has provided Gonzaga undergraduates with opportunities to join these collaborations and conduct their own original research as part of the team. Students from her group have co-authored two scientific publications, one of which is published in a peer-reviewed journal, and the other is currently under review. They have also been listed as co-authors on six national and international conference talks delivered by Dr. Alsaker and have presented ten conference and seminar talks themselves.
