Roberto Sabbadini earned his Ph.D. in History and Civilization from the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy (1995) and his B.A. with distinction from the University Ca’ Foscari in Venice, Italy (1988). He has been a recipient of scholarships and has received grants from Italian institutions.
His main areas of interest are political history, social history and political culture in Early Modern Italy.
As a scholar he has published books and essays mainly centered around the investigation of the cultural values and the social and political attitudes of the Italian nobility and upon the social and political interactions between the prince and the aristocracy in Early Modern Italy.
He has been teaching for 20 years in various American Universities in Florence. During this time period he has taught or he is currently teaching various courses in Early Modern History, Renaissance History and Medieval History.
Since 2005 he has been teaching Medieval Europe and Renaissance Europe at the Gonzaga University in Florence.
