Martino Traxler, born to an Italian father and an Anglo-American mother, split his upbringing between Italy and the United States. Educated in French-language schools, he earned a degree in philosophy from Tufts University and a Ph.D. in the same subject from Cornell. Following a few years of teaching philosophy in the States, he returned to Italy to join his wife, Patricia Rucidlo, who had already settled in Florence.
Martino and Patricia currently reside near Livorno/Leghorn, sharing their home with numerous dogs. From there, Martino commutes to teach.
Over the years, Martino has found great joy in teaching and believes in the transformative power of learning. Even when he isn't grading harshly, he treasures the educational process. Following a peripatetic Schartz-Metterklume spirit (H. Munro, 1914), he works to engage students in active learning, both inside and outside the classroom. He fosters debate, sparks critical reflection, and champions the pursuit of truth, diligent re-reading, and grammatical precision.
