He took his Laurea (1992, 110 magna cum laude) in Lettere e Filosofia, Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia, Università di Firenze. He has a Ph.D. (2002-2005, winner of a Ph.D. Italian Research Grant for History of Architecture) in History of Architecture, Facoltà di Architettura, Università di Firenze.
Since 2014 he is Accademico Onorario of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno di Firenze (founded in 1563).
He is Honorary Professor to the President of Fu Jen Catholic University in Taipei (Taiwan), and has cooperated with the Macau Matteo Ricci S.J. Institute.
He is member of the board and president of the Società di Studi Giuseppe Castiglione S.J.-Lang Shining, which is dedicated to intercultural studies and named after the great Jesuit artist in China.
Vossilla has been a curator of exhibitions and editor of several publications.
He has published mostly on Renaissance Philosophy of Art, Renaissance Sculpture, and history of Italian Museums. He has focused his most recent books and articles on Michelangelo as well as on Giuseppe Castiglione S.J. for their important contributions to the birth of modern global Aesthetics.
At Gonzaga in Florence, Francesco Vossilla is currently teaching classes on Philosophy of Art, Museum Studies, Renaissance Architecture, Civil Engineering and Design.
