Welcome to the BLÜM Lab!
Language is a quintessentially human capacity. Aspects of language are crucial to our social identities, interactions, communication, and quality of life, and are linked with other higher level cognitive processes. Yet, we are so surrounded by language that we hardly notice its impact. Our research in the BLÜM Lab focuses on multiple issues in speech perception and language learning. We use a variety of methodologies, such as eye-tracking, electroencephalography (EEG), and machine learning techniques to examine the cognitive and neural mechanisms subserving language processing. We hope that by better characterizing these processes, we can better inform treatments in the classroom and the clinic.
