After graduating from Gonzaga I went on to complete my Masters in Social Work at The University of California, Berkeley. I am now a social work intern at Kaiser Permanente in the Department of Psychiatry. I provide psychotherapy to children, teens, their families, and adults. This is a great opportunity to receive additional training in the mental health field and to accumulate hours toward licensure.
What I enjoyed most about my time at Gonzaga was the connection I felt with my professors. They not only invested in me as a student, but as a person. They did everything to support me from breaking down complex concepts to writing letters of recommendation for graduate school applications. This support, along with stimulating course work, prepared me to succeed at the number one public university in the world and in my social work career. I even received an Excellence in Social Work Research Award from my graduate program! Needless to say, I would not be where I am without the brilliant and compassionate professors in this department (especially Dr. Medina and Dr. Thorne).
