More about Anisia
Future plans:
My career aspirations are to work specifically with students like me: low-income, first generation, students of color. I want to help shape student’s mind that this world is whatever they make it out to be. I want to edify them to understand that they have the power to shape their future.
How has your major contributed to your professional or personal development?
My major has contributed to my professional and personal development because sociology has shaped my thinking and the way I interact with the world and with systems. Here at Gonzaga, I have used my sociological mind to inform the way the I have been a student leader on campus. The roles I have taken on have been roles that directly support students, specifically students of marginalized identities.
What has been your proudest or most significant accomplishment during your Gonzaga career?
My most significant accomplishment during my Gonzaga career was after performing at Diversity Monologues a first-year student shared with me that my poem gave her the confidence to be unapologetically herself on campus, even after having experiences where she felt like she couldn't.
