Future plans:
After graduation, I will stay in Spokane to offer a year of service that will entail creating meaningful relationships with neighbors and empowering youth to serve their communities. Afterwards, I hope to attend graduate school to study applied mathematics and become a professor at the undergraduate level.
How has your major contributed to your professional or personal development?
My majors in mechanical engineering and applied mathematics have provided me with the foundation I need to study applied mathematics at the graduate level. Developing the capacity to communicate mathematical thinking has also enabled me to teach concepts to others better.
What has been your proudest or most significant accomplishment during your Gonzaga career?
In my sophomore year, I began engaging in grassroots community-building activities inspired by the Bahá’í Faith. I have predominantly been getting to know the S’gaw Karen people, who are refugees from Myanmar. In the past two years, I taught myself to read, write, and speak the S’gaw Karen language.
