Spokane Community Resilience Collaborative
The Spokane Community Resilience Collaborative (SCRC) is a group of Spokane-area organizations committed to creating a thriving and resilient community. The group is comprised of representatives of organizations in diverse fields such as healthcare, education, government, and nonprofits who use their shared knowledge and expertise to support each other's work and jointly pursue new work to support a Spokane regional community that is prepared for and adaptable to change. Facilitated by the Gonzaga Institute for Climate, Water, and the Environment (Climate Institute), the SCRC primarily focuses on resilience to extreme heat and wildfire events and all their interconnected challenges.
Goals
- Develop city-wide heat and smoke action plans for Spokane
- Develop a building-level resilience planning tool for Spokane organizations and businesses to create their own smoke and heat readiness plans
- Create a public resource guide that provides general information for households regarding extreme heat and wildfire smoke.
The public resource guide will be made available in late 2025, and more information on the city and building level plans can be accessed here.
