What is Campus Internationalization?
21st Century Education is by necessity international and intercultural. If we aren't preparing our graduates for the interdependent globalized world where they will live and work, we are not providing the education experience and preparation necessary for them to succeed.
It is unlikely that sixty years ago the founders of Gonzaga in Florence knew that they were setting Gonzaga on a path to being a global university. The creation of Gonzaga in Florence made Gonzaga a leader in international education as we were one of the first schools to develop an international campus. Since the creation of Gonzaga in Florence we have watched the role of international education become more important and prominent in higher education.
Many reports over the years have been produced about what the structure of international education at Gonzaga should look like. This report is a five-year snapshot of where Gonzaga currently is in our international efforts. The IEC has used the American Council of Education, Center for Internationalization and Global Engagement’s six pillars to review Gonzaga’s international efforts. This document is the foundational document to develop a Campus Internationalization Strategy. This strategy will fit into the university Academic Strategy and ultimately into the overall university strategy.
