Communities In Schools of Spokane County

Communities In Schools believe that every student, regardless of race, gender, ability, zip code, or socioeconomic background has what they need to realize their full potential in school and beyond. Communities In Schools walk by their side, in their communities, to challenge the systems and barriers that stand between them and their success in life.

Prime Time Mentoring

PrimeTime Mentoring is a school based program where volunteers devote 30-60 minutes each week to make a positive difference in the life of a student. Mentors spend their session engaging in conversation and participating in fun activities while making a meaningful connection with their mentee.

To get your youth involved, go to the youth program page for Primetime contact information.

Hillyard Youth Collaborative

The Hillyard Youth Collaborative provides academic and social support services to middle-school youth at Garry and Shaw Middle Schools while concurrently providing enriching academic and co-curricular learning opportunities for Gonzaga University students. The model brings partners from local non-profits like Communities In Schools, the Boys and Girls Club, and The ZoNE together with Gonzaga University and Spokane Public Schools to provide wrap around supports for youth in Northeast Spokane. Over the years, this model has extended to work with some feeder elementary schools and John R. Rogers High School in ways that support critical transitions for youth in and out of their middle school years.
