New and returning students who are living in campus housing will be welcomed to campus using a phased approach, over a sequence of three-day periods, beginning Wednesday, August 26th, 2020.

Move-in for first year students will be on  Wednesday, August 26 – Friday, August 28. Returning students will move in from  Saturday, August 29 – Monday, August 31. We expect some student leaders and fall student athletes to be “early arrivals” beginning as early as  Sunday, August 16.

To reduce the number of people moving into a building at the same time, specific move-in days and times were provided to each family in early July. Roommates will not be assigned to move in during the same shift. More information about the move-in process can be found at www.gonzaga.edu/movein

Students that had items stored will need to contact Plant & Construction Services at  (509) 313-5656 to make an appointment to pick up their items. All items will need to be picked up no later than September 8

Yes, most students will be assigned roommates and will live in a double room.

If students have a health concern heightened by COVID-19 where management of the concern would be best accomplished in a single room or by living off campus, please contact the Housing & Residence Life Office at housing@gonzaga.edu or (509) 313-4103. Upon a student’s request, the Housing Office will coordinate with campus partners in Health and Counseling Services and Disability Access for evaluation of the request.

In consultation with the Spokane Regional Health District, Gonzaga will ensure appropriate public health measures are in place in all residence halls and student health and wellness education will be provided to guide student behavior.

 
Students are able to move into GU Owned Off Campus Properties when the lease starts.
 

Gonzaga will resume campus operations, including course instruction, co-curricular activities, on-campus housing, dining, and the full array of student services, for Fall Semester 2020. Foley Library and ATAS will continue physical library services as well as remote services.

 

Yes. For students who have ESA animals that do not need to exit the room (e.g. cats, rabbits, potbelly pig) they can take their animals with them. For students with dogs, which need to be taken outside of the room/building, the student will need to assign a proxy who can care for the animal in the event that the student is required to isolate or quarantine.

 

Following CDC guidelines and utilizing industry recommended standards, Gonzaga University staff will provide the following:

  • Clean all residence halls rooms prior to student move-in
  • Provide daily cleaning and disinfecting to common area such as lounges, bathrooms and community kitchens
  • Regularly disinfect frequently touched surfaces in all residence halls.

Please note: Students will remain responsible for cleaning bathrooms and common spaces in suites and apartment-style units as well as all surfaces in student rooms.

 

Three University housing facilities have been reserved for use in the event of the need for student isolation and quarantine. Protocols have been developed in consultation with the Spokane Regional Health District and in compliance with CDC recommendations.

Isolation is what you do if you have COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19.

Isolation means you stay in a designated isolation space or your place of residence (depending on or off campus status) and keep safely away from others for the recommended period of time to avoid spreading illness. All on campus students with symptoms of COVID-19 or a positive laboratory confirmed case of COVID-19 will be required to move to an isolation space on campus. The CART will assist with support during this time. All off campus students with symptoms of COVID-19 or a positive laboratory confirmed case of COVID-19 need to isolate in their place of residence and keep safely away from others in the residence (ex. private bedroom and bathroom and no shared spaces). If this is not possible, SRHD will assist in identifying appropriate options for isolation. The SRHD will assist with support during this time.

Quarantine is what you do if you have been exposed to COVID-19.

Quarantine means you stay in a designated quarantine space or your place of residence and keep safely away from others for the recommended period of time in case you are infected and are contagious. Quarantine becomes isolation if you later test positive for COVID-19 or develop COVID-19 symptoms. All on campus students who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and are a “close contact” (within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) must move to a quarantine space on campus or quarantine in their own space only if they can keep safely away from others (ex. private bedroom and bathroom and no shared spaces). The CART will assist with support during this time. All off campus students who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and are a “close contact” (within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) must quarantine in their own space and keep safely away from others (ex. private bedroom and bathroom and no shared spaces) in the residence.
