Student Leader GUide(s) Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the selection and training of Small Group Leaders, Event Leaders, or Super Group Leaders during the Spring Semester and Orientation Weekend
  • Assist in executing Orientation Leader training in April and August
  • Manage communication and delegation of tasks among Super Group, Small Group and Event leaders
  • Maintains, staffs, and manages Orientation Station
  • Train student leaders on how to direct and escort students in venues
  • Recruit staff/faculty supporters for various training sessions

General Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of New Student Orientation mission and goals
  • Assist in the selection of Orientation Leaders for First Year Experience Programs by reviewing applications and serving as members of the interview team
  • Provide input and feedback on New Student Orientation issues
  • Write correspondence regarding programming
  • Attend weekly supervisor and team meetings
  • Provide reception support by answering phones, greeting guests and managing the office when professional staff are not available
  • Complete administrative tasks related to New Student Orientation Programs and First Year Experience Programs
  • Facilitate appropriate communication with various campus offices, departments, schools and/or colleges
  • Create programming inclusive of our diverse student population (transfer, veterans, returning adults, international students, etc.)
  • Complete a transition notebook and files after New Student Orientation
  • Live the Gonzaga University Mission and ignite the passion for Gonzaga in others
  • Assume additional responsibilities related to New Student Orientation as assigned by supervisor
