Program GUide(s) Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate details of New Student Orientation events such as Opening Ceremony, Campus Resource Fair, Friday Night Events, Sunday Night How to Zag Rotation, Mission and Transition Panel, Welcome Night, Welcome Walk, Academic Convocation.
  • Work with the Gonzaga Student Body Association, Bomb Squad, Cheer Team, Kennel Club and other student organizations.
  • Maintain program budgets and ensure they are adhered to for each event
  • Book talent, including musicians, bands, speakers, vendors, participants and/or DJs
  • Visit venue to plan layout of seating and decorations
  • Develop and coordinate event timelines and ensure deadlines are met
  • Initiates, coordinates and participates in all efforts to publicize events to campus community
  • Create program invitee list, send out invitations and manage RSVP lists
  • Coordinate event logistics, presentation and materials support and pre- and post-event evaluations.
  • Keep inventory of all campus and plant service requests
  • Ensure day of event goes smoothly
  • Train Orientation Leaders on event responsibilities during Orientation Leader training

General Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of New Student Orientation mission and goals
  • Assist in the selection of Orientation Leaders for First Year Experience Programs by reviewing applications and serving as members of the interview team
  • Provide input and feedback on New Student Orientation issues
  • Write correspondence regarding programming
  • Attend weekly supervisor and team meetings
  • Provide reception support by answering phones, greeting guests and managing the office when professional staff are not available
  • Complete administrative tasks related to New Student Orientation Programs and First Year Experience Programs
  • Facilitate appropriate communication with various campus offices, departments, schools and/or colleges
  • Create programming inclusive of our diverse student population (transfer, veterans, returning adults, international students, etc.)
  • Complete a transition notebook and files after New Student Orientation
  • Live the Gonzaga University Mission and ignite the passion for Gonzaga in others
  • Assume additional responsibilities related to New Student Orientation as assigned by supervisor
