Abe Ritter is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Gonzaga University School of Law. Abe has been at Gonzaga Law since 2018, and in a prior role he served as the Associate Director of the Center for Professional Development and Externships. In that position, Abe helped manage the Externship Program and taught seminars that prepare students for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in the legal profession. For the past several years, Abe has also taught Professional Responsibility at the law school. He is an undergraduate alumnus of Gonzaga, and he earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School. A Colorado native, Abe worked as a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado’s First Judicial District. During his time in practice, he litigated over 75 jury trials, including 60 solo jury trials. Abe’s scholarly interests include behavioral legal ethics, systems and practices in criminal courts, and experiential learning pedagogy. He is a member of the Washington State Bar, the WSBA Council on Public Defense, and the Colorado State Bar.
