My name is Julie Thompson, and I am a Nurse Practitioner.

In 2004, I started my career at College of the Desert in Palm Desert California- my first degree of Associate Degree in Nursing.
My first position as a nurse was at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, I was an emergency trauma nurse.

During that time I enrolled in a BSN program at California State University (CSU), Palm Desert, earning my BSN in 2008.  I began teaching for CSU as clinical faculty in the BSN program.
In the fall of  2009, I started my masters degree earning my MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner, in 2012.   From 2012 to 2015 I worked as a primary care provider and also in urgent care. My role in nursing education expanded to didactic courses at CSU.   In 2015 I started my postmasters PMHNP at Vanderbilt School of Nursing accellerated program, finishing that program in 2016.  In 2016, I started the DNP program at Vanderbilt and completed that degree in 2019.

I enjoy teaching nursing students across the academic spectrum from ADN to DNP.  I have the greatest respect for all nurses and I am proud to be apart of the profession.  I am so grateful to my mentors and for the  opportunities to study and deepen my knowledge in the science of nursing. It is a privilege for me to be a faculty member here at Gonzaga University School of Nursing.  I look forward to continuing to serve my profession by preparing excellent nurse healthcare providers into the future for populations in need of medical care.
