Our accounting students help victims of fraud in our community while gaining valuable hands-one experience through the Justice for Fraud Victims Project, a partnership between Gonzaga; local, state and federal law enforcement officials; and local Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs).
Under the guidance of law enforcement, CFE mentors, and accounting faculty, our students work in teams to assist financial fraud victims in cases where a full forensic accounting investigation would otherwise be too costly and time consuming.
The students investigate the fraud cases as part of a forensic accounting lab course. They work together to establish the method by which a fraud was perpetrated and quantify the damages so the case can be prosecuted. Students gain valuable professional skills while helping real-life victims achieve justice.
