Gonzaga Theatre joined the League of Women Voters of Spokane Area’s 75th anniversary gala on Saturday, March 22, 2025, as their featured entertainment to perform an excerpt from the full-length show I Wish Ma Could Vote: an Evening of Women’s Suffrage Plays.

Directed by Theatre Chair and Associate Professor Leslie Stamoolis, I Wish Ma Could Vote was performed at the Magnuson Theatre on February 6 and 7 of this year to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment. The show was a collection of American and British suffrage plays from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Members of the League attended the event and asked Gonzaga Theatre to join them to celebrate 75 years of education and civic engagement in Spokane.

“Gonzaga Theatre is committed to taking our work into the community to edify, educate, and entertain with theatre’s unique power to effect change,” says Prof. Stamoolis. “We were honored to mark such a significant milestone in the League of Women Voters’ work in Spokane to register voters, promote civic responsibility, and educate the general population about important issues of the day.”

Theatre students, faculty and representatives from the Leagu of Women Voters of Spokane posed for a group picture.
