Reflecting a deep commitment to academic excellence and student success, Gonzaga University has been recognized among the Top 100 National Universities by U.S. News & World Report for the sixth consecutive year.

Gonzaga stands out for its dedication to creating a world-class teaching and learning environment. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1 and an average class size of just 22 students, the University endeavors to provide a personalized and high-quality educational experience.

“We are proud to once again be recognized among the nation’s finest universities,” said Thayne McCulloh, president of Gonzaga University. “Our inclusion in the top 100 National Universities reflects the dedicated work of our faculty, staff, and students.

"GU creates a learning experience that both challenges and nurtures our students, empowering them to become leaders who shape their professions and elevate their communities.”

U.S. News & World Report’s National University category includes 434 schools, ranging from elite private universities to large state research institutions, and is based on criteria established by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Ranked national universities offer a full range of undergraduate majors, master’s and doctoral degrees, and emphasize faculty research or professional practice doctorates.

Exceptional Programs and Outcomes

Gonzaga programs recognized among the nation’s best include undergraduate engineering, nursing, entrepreneurship, accounting, finance, undergraduate teaching, and service learning. Other highly ranked GU undergraduate programs are business, psychology, and computer science.

In addition, Gonzaga is again recognized as a Best Value School, Top Performer on Social Mobility, and among the nation’s Best Colleges for Veterans.

Gonzaga’s impressive student outcomes continue to be among the highest in the nation:

  • 94% of first-year students return for a second year, placing Gonzaga in the top 23% of ranked National Universities.
  • 93% of students place successfully in jobs, graduate programs, military, or public and community service (Peace Corps, Teach for America, Jesuit Volunteers, etc.) in their first year after graduation.
  • 87% of GU’s undergraduate students graduate within six years, compared with the national average of 68%.

“Our commitment to student success is reflected in our impressive retention and graduation rates,” said Interim Provost Mia Bertagnolli.

“We pride ourselves on providing an education that supports students academically but also equips them with the skills and opportunities to achieve their educational goals and thrive in their chosen fields.”

GU student outcomes also reflect the University’s strategic focus on new and expanded programs designed to equip students with the skills to navigate an increasingly complex, segmented, and data-driven environment. Examples include: new graduate business analytics, data science and cybersecurity; an online MBA; and new undergraduate degrees in public health, biomedical engineering, and neuroscience. Additionally, the Center for Lifelong Learning offers certificates in cybersecurity and software engineering, as well as climate action planning.

“Gonzaga students benefit from a holistic education that enhances problem-solving skills and prepares them to excel in dynamic and interconnected professions,” said Bertagnolli. “We are proud that today’s rankings reflect Gonzaga’s dedication to our students’ futures, their contributions to the workplace and the promise they bring to society.”
