Today we journeyed to Amersfoort to tour an Energy and Resource Recovery Factory.

We traveled to the factory by both train and bus. Then we were shown around the facilities and taught about the different processes that are performed in the plant or will be integrated into the system in the future.

Some processes are the same or similar to processes we have in US for treating wastewater. A very interesting step of the Netherlands process is producing fertilizer from the phosphorus that has been removed.

We traveled back to the train station together to do an activity on the urban heat island effect. We walked around a section of Amersfoort to determine differences in land cover, temperature, heat level, and land use on different areas in the route.

After the walk, the group all moved to Amersfoort's main square downtown, full of cute shops and restaurants. Everyone spilt up as we chose different restaurants for dinner. Then the professors and students all traveled back to Delft.
