The second day in Delft, the Sustainable Cities course biked 14 miles on a loop including stops in Rijswijk.

Students learned about the car-focused transportation system the town developed in the 1970. The town is working on implementing bicycles back into transportation to improve its efficiency and safety.

The tour included stops at two different housing developments to see how Rijswijk is making transportation work around where people live, and to catch a glimpse at the Netherland’s new, net-zero housing developments.

The weekend came to an early start with a group lunch at Ikea and students were sent out to discover more of their host town, Delft.

The class takes a break by the Shaapweimolen, a 'polder mill' that used to be the main way to drain water from a low-lying piece of land. Today, it's a protected monument.
