Real Frequency Finds Success Through NVL’s Student Collaboration
Empowering Individuals in Academic and Professional Journeys
Evan Moore is the founder of Real Frequency, a consulting firm committed to reaching and impacting people in “every stage of the academic and professional journey.” Their services include consulting for college-bound students and parents and for career-shifting individuals through mindset training that identifies one’s strengths.
A Mission Born from University Sector Experience
Evan started this business after working in the university sector and seeing a lack of support, counseling, and a low retention rate for individuals that attended universities. Starting his business in Spokane, he then expanded to service clients worldwide during the COVID-19 Pandemic, as online accessibility increased tremendously.
Seeking Expertise in Marketing Strategy
He originally sought NVL’s services for advice and implementation of marketing strategies. After constructing the 9-week scope, he realized the aspect that differentiates NVL from other student-consulting firms: “Not only are you offering services that are tangible, legit, and real, but the projects are things we can use, implement, and leverage.”
Professionalism and Energy from NVL Students
After the first meeting with the consultants and the project managers, Evan shared he was surprised and extremely impressed with the professionalism and willingness of the students. He said, “Albeit the students are young, but that’s what we want and need for our client base.”
Meeting Goals and Discovering New Potential
When asked if the problem he sought out NVL’s services for was solved, he shared, “Absolutely! And what I didn’t know at the time was that I could have leveraged that team for far more than I did.” He went on to explain the importance of building a scope that can go beyond marketing strategies. He shared that the ability to do this is an extremely vulnerable aspect of NVL, as he shared some of the weaknesses of Real Frequency with the consultants.
Students’ Impact on Real Frequency’s Online Presence
The main assignment the students worked on for 9 weeks was the update of Real Frequency’s social media sites. Evan emphasized the importance of constructing a website and media pages that were reflective of the company’s core values and missions. Evan shared that for Real Frequency, this is very colorful, collaborative, and accessible. The students took those key aspects to make sites that are still used by Real Frequency today.
Advice for Entrepreneurs
When asked for advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, Evan emphasized the importance of engagement. He stated, “New Venture Lab is unique because you get out of it what you put in, which is crucial to avoid scope slide.” He explained that scope slide occurs when there’s a lack of well-defined direction which leads to reduced involvement by both the entrepreneur and the students.
Continued Involvement with NVL and Gonzaga Community
Evan’s experience with NVL highlights the importance of interaction and engagement with the consultants, the assignments, and the Gonzaga community. Evan continues to stay involved with NVL as a board member and in the Gonzaga community as a professor for the Hogan Entrepreneurial Leadership Minor. He continues to run Real Frequency with a collaborative and engaging team.
