Graduation Year: 2022
Life After Gonzaga:
After graduating from Gonzaga, Keilea spent the summer in Montana and Wyoming as an outdoor travel guide, in the fall went backpacking through Europe and is currently working as a full-time professional ski patroller. For ski patrolling she obtained her outdoor emergency care (OEC) certification which entailed a 5 week, 140 hour class. She is planning on continuing ski patrolling for at least another year and is planning on graduate school in the future.
What made the greatest impression on you during your time at Gonzaga?
During my time at Gonzaga the overlap between my friends, mentors and memories had alarge impression on me. And through the help of mentors at Gonzaga Outdoors and professors I was able to connect my passion for the outdoors with my curriculum in Human Physiology to find my path. That journey, and eventually finding my path, left the greatest impression on me.
What skills or knowledge gained during the program did you find the most immediately useful after you graduated?
The knowledge I gained during my degree in human physiology has immensely assisted me in my career as a ski patroller. It gave me a boost while taking the OEC course and to feel confident while assisting patients on the hill.
What skills and abilities do you think future Human Physiology graduates will need to have to be successful?
I think for future HPHY graduates to be successful it is important to have an open mind, curiosity and willingness to explore options that exist around them.
