Aaron Danowski - Versalia Pizza

This restaurant in Kendall Yards makes wood-fired pizzas to order, and everything I've tried has been absolutely delicious! They've got tons of options to choose from. Whether you're a meat lover or a vegetarian, you'll find something to enjoy here! If the weather is nice, you can order it to go and find a spot at "The Nest," an open grassy spot just west of the restaurant overlooking the Spokane River.

Alexa Salvador - d'bali Asian Bistro

This restaurant is in Airway Heights and offers an amazing variety of Southeast Asian options. The menu rotates by season so there are always new things to try! Mama Jeannie who owns and operates the restaurant is always in the kitchen. She has traveled all over the world and is happy to share her amazing stories with anyone who asks. Plus, there is a student discount and 20% of their dessert profits goes to a local animal shelter! I highly recommend the Ube Lava Cake.

Audrey Minton - The Swinging Doors

The Swinging Doors is a great northside restaurant that has been in business for over 40 years and offers extremely generous portions of pub-style fare. With floor-to-ceiling sports memorabilia (including many GU favorites) and TVs in every nook and cranny, this is one of the best places to game-watch!

Becky Stockton - Clinkerdagger

Clinkerdagger is the hot spot for students to take their families when they visit Spokane! It is a bit pricier, so I recommend it for special occasions. The restaurant is located in the historic Flour Mill Building right on the north banks of the Spokane River and next to the famous waterfalls. It has incredible food and views as well! You can never go wrong at Clinkerdagger.

Carie Weeks - Bruncheonette

Just a short walk up Monroe Street from downtown, Bruncheonette is a delicious, creative, and woman- and BIPOC-owned breakfast and brunch place. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as takeout, and have some of the friendliest and most attentive staff around. I highly recommend the vegan breakfast tacos, along with the cinnamon granola and Greek yogurt. Everyone raves about their coffee in reviews, but, since I only drink tea, I have to say, it is delicious as well. Do note: they automatically add a service charge to the bill so that they can split the tips between front and back of house staff more equitably. If you get lucky, you may run into their gourmet sandwich food truck somewhere around the city.

Claire Silva - The Elk Public House

Venture to Browne's Addition in west Spokane to find The Elk. It's a little historic neighborhood with old mansions, an art museum (the MAC - Museum of Art and Culture), several great places to eat, and more! The Elk has always been one of my favorites. For your side, get the corn pasta. If you're in the mood for other fare, there's Mexican, Italian, and pizza places around too!

Eli Jenkins - Austin's Live Fire BBQ

Despite being in the Inland Northwest, Spokane isn't missing out on fantastic BBQ. I wasn't always a big fan of BBQ, but Austin's Live was good enough to change my mind. They also have a plethora of sides that you can share with the whole group!

Erin Hays - Umi Kitchen and Sushi Bar

There are many great sushi places in Spokane, but this is my favorite. The menu is inventive and fresh and the location is in a neighborhood with beautiful views of downtown Spokane and the river. Be sure to try the Spokane roll!

Lindsey Spencer - Wild Sage Bistro

Like Becky's recommendation, Wild Sage Bistro is a great choice for a special occasion. A small, fine-dining restaurant located in downtown Spokane, it provides a comfortable and high-quality dining experience. I recently had their Creole shrimp fettucine and it was delicious!

Nate Mannetter - South Perry Pizza

Any good restaurant has to start with delicious food and South Perry has that (make sure you order the flat bread with roasted garlic to start with). However, truly great restaurants follow through with great service and a fun atmosphere. The Perry District is a unique neighborhood in Spokane and, if you are lucky enough to be around on a Wednesday night, is also home to a fantastic farmers market. South Perry Pizza is home to amazing people and scrumptious food and is a great place to explore a neat Spokane neighborhood.

Nayeli Sargent - Soulful Soups & Spirits

There is something about the restaurant that just feels cozy; it’s probably the fact that they serve different fresh and homemade soups. On chilly fall or winter days, this is one of my go-to locations for a nice warm meal!

Priya Osborne - Gilded Unicorn

One cool thing about Spokane is the abundance of hole-in-the-wall places located throughout the city. With a twist on modern, American food and an eccentric indoor dining area, the Gilded Unicorn is definitely a hole-in-the-wall that you won’t regret stumbling upon!

Sam Galluzzo - The Yards Bruncheon

Yards is one of the best all-day breakfast spots in Spokane with every type of breakfast food (the Yards benedict is always amazing) and drink you look for! They also have great lunch and dinner options; the Yard burger is my favorite for dinner. Yards is in the Kendall Yards neighborhood, with bars and other restaurants close by and only a short 10 minute walk to downtown and Riverfront Park.

Sandra Vance - Wooden City Spokane

Wooden City is a newer restaurant in Spokane, but it has quickly become one of my favorites! They have great pizzas, delicious pasta, and their appetizers are amazing (make sure to try the Hungarian peppers and the smoked salmon toast!). In the heart of downtown, Wooden City is a great dinner spot while you're exploring Spokane!

Theresa Howlett - Feast World Kitchen

There are many great restaurants in Spokane, but this one is my pick. It's a non-profit serving the immigrant and former refugee communities in Spokane and they offer a rotating menu, which has been created and prepared by different chefs each week. Every time we've gone, the food has been delicious, and they have a cute little outdoor patio area in the back if you want to eat there. They also offer takeout.

While this list provides a lot of great restaurants to try, know that it isn't exclusive! One of the best parts about Spokane is the strong small business community, including many incredible restaurants, many of which go unmentioned in this list. Happy eating!
