A willingness to serve: Gene Dire 2021 Bishop's Medal award recipient

Congratulations to Gene Dire (’69, ’74 M.A.), recipient of the 2021 Bishop’s Medal from Catholic Charities. His Catholic faith is an anchor in his professional and personal life, Dire has worked for Catholic Charities for 34 years and served in multiple roles with various dioceses around Spokane. 

At the award ceremony, Executive Director Rob McCann (’95 M.A., ’06 Ph.D.) said Dire’s leadership excellence is alongside people like Fr. Bach and Donna Hanson. “The agency continues to be blessed by his willingness to serve. During this past year of COVID challenges, his calm, gentle wisdom was a guiding force.”
