About This Event

Brief Description

In this interactive workshop, Dr. Annmarie Caño will provide a leadership framework that can be used to co-create healthier academic environments in which everyone, not just the privileged few, can thrive. Drawing from her book, Leading Toward Liberation: How to Build Cultures of Thriving in Higher Education (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2025), she will describe how liberatory leadership is possible when we read reality for what it is, build compassion for ourselves, accompany others in solidarity, and find those who will accompany us in our leadership practice.

Open to all Gonzaga University faculty and staff!

Learning Outcomes

  1. Gain an understanding of the history of liberation praxis, especially in the context of Jesuit colleges and universities
  2. Identify leadership tools and strategies that characterize liberation praxis
  3. Create an action plan to engage in liberatory leadership no matter one’s title or role
