More about Emma

Future plans:

I’d like to earn my Ph.D. one day and continue pursuing my sociological interests, as my ultimate dream is to become a professor. Before all that, I’d like to work and travel abroad to learn about different societies. After graduation, I plan to teach English in South Korea.

How has your major contributed to your professional or personal development?

Sociology instilled within me a deep love for life and gratitude for my education. My professors opened my eyes to new ways of looking at the world, and with my likeminded classmates I was able to find community. I owe my devotions to truth, justice, and liberation to them.

What has been your proudest or most significant accomplishment during your Gonzaga career?

My proudest accomplishment was earning the Morris Undergraduate Research Fellowship. Working closely alongside my cohort and my advisor Dr. Michael DeLand ignited my irreversible passion for sociological research, and I’m very grateful to have had that opportunity.
