Jake Deckert, PhD

Dr. Deckert's PhD focused on exercise as a modality to regulate skeletal muscle physiology and the immune system. After grad school he did a postdoctoral fellowship in the immune responses following spinal cord injury and the potential to use exercise as a mechanism to ameliorate devastating long term health issues. With an undergraduate degree in education, he greatly values the opportunity to share knowledge in these areas with students while working to make basic science topics digestible and applicable to students personal and professional lives. As a dual appointment he teaches both undergraduates at GU and medical students for the UW School of Medicine.
