Why Give to Gonzaga?

Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends:

If you are reading this webpage, chances are that you either have made a gift to Gonzaga or are thinking of doing so. Thank you!

Why give to Gonzaga? Two primary reasons:

  1. We are committed to keeping a Gonzaga education as affordable as possible; most students need your help to cover the additional costs that tuition does not cover, and
  2. Gonzaga’s Jesuit mission is worthy of your support.

Tuition does not cover the full costs to educate a student. Every year the University supplements each student’s tuition with thousands of dollars of additional support, much of which comes from donors. This would be a very different university, attracting a very different kind of student, without donor support. This leads me to my second point.

We attract a certain type of student because of Gonzaga’s distinctive mission, steeped in the Jesuit tradition of education, which is focused on developing the whole student. We respect, challenge, and ultimately, transform our students to become “men and women for others,” at work in the world serving the common good. Donors find value in that, and for this we are deeply grateful.

Very sincerely,

 President Spitzer
